Occupational Therapy of New England

I have been practicing at Occupational Therapy of New England, an outpatient pediatric clinic located in Stow, Massachusetts,  for the past 1.5 years. In this role, I provide comprehensive evaluations and individualized interventions for children and young adults from 2 to 21 years of age. My responsibilities include administering standardized assessments and utilizing clinical observations to develop targeted treatment plans tailored to each individual's unique needs. I have experience working with clients to address performance areas related to motor development, visual motor integration, sensory processing, executive functioning, emotional regulation, primitive reflex integration, and activities of daily living, ensuring that intervention strategies promote skill development and functional independence. Treatment goals are established collaboratively, and progress is diligently monitored to support meaningful growth. In addition to direct intervention, I provide consultation and school-based collaboration, working with educators, school support staff, and families to support IEP development, classroom modifications, and skill generalization across environments. By integrating therapy techniques into home and school settings, I strive to enhance participation, engagement, and independence for my clients. My experience at Occupational Therapy of New England has strengthened my clinical expertise, interdisciplinary collaboration, and commitment to evidence-based practice, allowing me to provide high-quality, individualized care that supports each child’s success.

Children's Occupational Therapy & Associates: COT&A

I was hired by Children's Occupational Therapy & Associates, located in Burlington, Massachusetts, after completing my Level II Fieldwork at this site. It is an outpatient pediatric clinic focusing on children's ability to register, process, discriminate, modulate, and integrate sensory input to produce an adaptive response. The facility consists of multiple sensory gyms and fine motor areas corresponding to the child’s developmental level. I have worked with a variety of children who exhibit sensory issues, praxis problems, ASD, ADHD, DCD, SPD, and attention and behavior problems related to sensory processing. As a therapist, I utilize child-directed play to enhance volition and increase the potential for improved neural organization. I aim to create opportunities for children to develop improved movement, body awareness, and sensory processing to enable participation in daily activities and promote increased feelings of mastery.

Level II Fieldwork: CMHC

For my Level II Fieldwork, I was at the West Haven Mental Health Clinic, a satellite clinic for the Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC). The CMHC is a partnership between the State of Connecticut, the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and Yale University School of Medicine. This site provides community-based psychiatric services for children, adolescents, and young adults who live in the greater New Haven area. During my fieldwork, I primarily worked with young adults, with the majority of the clients ranging in age from 18-25 years old. The services for young adults are for those experiencing psychiatric difficulty and needing assistance transitioning from adolescence to early adulthood. I handled a caseload of 12 clients and performed both individual and group sessions. My interventions focused on a variety of occupations including personal hygiene and grooming,  meal preparation, nutrition management, and social participation.

ConnOTA 2023

At the Spring 2023 ConnOTA Conference,  I was the primary speaker for my capstone poster and presented on implementing an international webinar. I also had the pleasure to volunteer at this event where I introduced, concluded, and moderated sessions at the conference. Included below, is a copy of the poster and the CEUs obtained from attending the event.
